Cue to leave
by Grey Goose injust reading a thread about one circuit saying the pubs must donate $10.. it got me thinking, that if it ever became policy to donate a % of ones income, that would be my cue to leave.
or i would kick up such a stink about it i would be kicked out.
either would be good for me.. so, is there any public policy changes which would be your cue to leave?.

I get it,seriously, i really do.
I, along with many on this site, are just so f**king stuck in this mess with no breathing space.
It helps to talk about things to clear my head.
I'm a little upset right now in all honesty...

A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?
by Finkelstein into myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.
gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.
over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

No, you cannot know, but for me, I think it's just something/someone to hang all are hopes, fears, and desires on. -

Thanks talesin.
suppose i'm just scared of the consequences, and as you said, are any of us really ever ready?
I do have a plan to fade, but it may take many years. I'm just exploring some other avenues today.
Thanks for your answers, keep them coming.

I think it's just something/someone to hang all are hopes, fears, and desires on.
If we want something, we pray.
If we are frightened by something, we pray.
If we do something "bad" and want forgiveness, we pray.
If we get what we asked for, God is with us. If we don't get what we asked for, God is still with us.
If If we pray that a friend will survive surgery and he survives, God was listening to our prayer. If he dies, then god was still listening, but time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all....
It really don't make sense and is MASSIVELY open to interpretation what this "God" is really like.
If there was 100% evidence to prove he does exist, I would have some very sobering questions for him. And the answer "i'm working to my timetable", just does not cut it.
I'm not too sure what to believe right now. I'm leaning towards there being a higher life form that is bigger than any mind can fathom, who doesn't actually give a shit about what goes on on planet earth. But again, jury's out on the subject for now.

Just reading a thread about one circuit saying the pubs must donate $10.
It got me thinking, that if it ever became policy to donate a % of ones income, that would be my cue to leave. Or I would kick up such a stink about it I would be kicked out. Either would be good for me.
So, is there any public policy changes which would be your cue to leave?
It's very hard to leave over the child abuse issues at present as I would most defiantly be outed as an apostate, the information available isn't readily available to regular publishers. Unless there is massive exposure on the issue, that area is on hold.
In retrospect, the JW TV thing should have been my cue, but I was resting on my laurels a little. Sadly, that ship has now sailed. Need to wait for my next big opportunity.
Thoughts?

$10 per pub. Money begging session last night
by StarTrekAngel inlast night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

They trying to institute tithing without calling it tithing.
Almost how they believe in the rapture, but don't call it rapture.
Almost how they believe in the After Life, without calling it the After Life.
Almost like how they condemn greediness, when they themselves are greedy.
Like how they condemn TV preachers, when they themselves are TV preachers.
JWs are a tithing religion, but they just don't call it tithing.
If it becomes policy to donate a percentage of one's income, that is my cue to leave.

Honestly, Did Jehovah's Witnesses Do Anything POSITIVE For You?
by minimus ini was raised as a witness and am very thankful that i am out.
having said that, i think my upbringing produced positive qualities in me.
do you believe that anything positive came from your being a witness?

Forbidden to smoke. Suppose that was a positive.
Forbidden to heavy drink. Again, positive really.
I am empathetic and kind. But then again, maybe that's just the way I'm programmed. I was taught the same things as every other JW, and these good qualities didn't rub off on a lot of them. They probably would have been arse holes even if they weren't a JW.
I think being a "still in" but mentally "out" JW, has helped me develop more positive qualities than I ever did as a full believer.
Go figure.
